How Does It Work?
Our program is a four-year, 6,000-hour program of hands-on, classroom, computer and on-the-job training.
An apprentice earns an hourly wage as well as hourly benefits with advancements approximately every 6 months. As an apprentice, you’ll be paid while dispatched and working at a jobsite. However, during classroom and supplemental training, you will not be paid.
Apprentice duties include welding, rigging, working with cranes, blueprint reading, cutting, burning, fitting and whatever is needed to work side-by-side with a Journeyman to learn the trade.
As an apprentice, you will reach the competency nationwide of becoming a certified welder with our contractors. You will be challenged to become the 6% of Code ASME pressure vessel welders in many of our industries. The demand for combo welders in processes like GTAW (heli-arc), FCAW (wire-feed), SMAW (stick),not to mention exotic metal welding and mirror welding is imperative to our industry. We truly look forward to handing you the trade skills in our curriculum to become a valuable asset to the Boilermakers as well to get certified in at least SMAW process before graduating from our program.
How Do I Apply?
Applications for the Apprenticeship Program are available Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to be collected and signed for in-person at Local Lodge 92. Note: we are closed for lunch from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED. We give priority to applicants with welding experience and Armed Forces Veterans.
